Dear ASM Chicago Regional Chapter Members,
We are pleased to present a short course in heat treating preceded by our evening technical program and dinner. Both will be held on February 14th at the La Mirage Restaurant in Rolling Meadows.
The short course will be presented by Arvid Casler and will cover basic process selection for the Heat-Treating of Steel and is geared towards design engineers, quality engineers; purchasing agents and other professionals involved with specifying heat treating processes for steel components or working with heat treating shops. The course will be held from 1 to 4pm. The dinner meeting is included for all course participants at no extra charge.
The dinner technical program will be a presentation by Jerry Berg on the use of Ultrasonic inspection equipment for Non Destructive Testing in industry for thickness measurement and flaw detection.
The day's schedule will be as follows:
1:00 to 4:00pm Heat-Treating Short Course
4:30 to 5:30pm Executive Board meeting (all members are invited)
5:30 to 6:30pm Social Hour
6:30 to 7:30pm Dinner
7:30 to 8:45pm Technical presentation
The cost of the dinner meeting alone is $25.00 for preregistered participants, $35.00 at the door, free for students and participants of the short course.
I would also like to announce that our own Guiru Nash has been named to the ASM National Nominating Committee. Congratulations Guiru!
We continue to look for volunteers for board positions including Vice Treasurer, Website Developer and other opportunities to organize Chapter activities and build valuable leadership skills. Many of these positions do not take much time and all help YOUR society (cue patriotic music). Please contact myself or any other board member if you would like to help out.
